Pavan Nigam is a serial entrepreneur based in Silicon Valley. Most recently, he was the Chairman and CEO of Cendura Corporation which he co-founded in 2002. He grew the company into a market leader for data center automation software with an installed base that includes several Fortune 2000 companies. Cendura was acquired by Computer Associates (CA) in 2006.
Prior to that, Pavan co-founded Healtheon/WebMD (HLTH and WBMD) in 1996 along with Jim Clark (founder of Netscape) and served as its Chief Technology Officer and General Manager/EVP of its Internet Operations. During his tenure, he led the company's transformation from a concept to the world's largest e-health company, approaching a billion dollars in annual revenues with over eight thousand employees and several billion dollars in market capitalization. Pavan's role was extensively profiled in the bestseller The New New Thing by Michael Lewis.
Prior to Healtheon/WebMD, Pavan worked at Silicon Graphics where he was the General Manager of its Interactive Media Group and was responsible for deploying the high-profile Time Warner Orlando Interactive TV trial in Florida. Pavan also led several microprocessor software teams at Intel.
Pavan holds a BSEE from the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur) and an MSCS from the University of Wisconsin (Madison). He serves on several Corporate and Advisory Boards, including the Board of the US India Business Council and the Board of Visitors of the University of Wisconsin, and is also very active in many entrepreneurial and community initiatives in both the Silicon Valley and India, earning him the Silicon India Leadership Award for 1999. He is also a member of the Band of Angels.
Manoo brings over 25 years of expertise in the areas of large scale Internet applications, distributed systems, database management systems, and datawarehousing applications. Most recently, he was Co-founder and VP of Engineering & Operations at Gainboard Systems, Inc., a startup providing an on-demand analytics solution for managing offshore engagements. Prior to that, Manoo was the CTO and VP of Engineering at Cariocas Inc., a provider of an on-demand promotions platform targeted at large consumer brands.
Prior to Cariocas, Manoo has worked in a range of senior management and technical positions at WebMd, Tandem Computers, and Unisys. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Bangalore University, India, an M.S. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech., and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business, at UC Berkeley.
